Poll: Has Your Favorite Original Casey James Song Changed? Take the Latest Poll!

On August 21, at the North Canton Main Street Festival in Ohio, Casey introduced his fans to three new original songs: “Crazy Tonight,” “The Good Life” and “You’ll Never Walk Away.”  That makes a total of seventeen original songs Casey has performed this year.

The last time we asked you to pick your favorite original songs was in July.  With the addition of this new material, you may want to re-evaluate your choices and give the ranking another try.  It gets harder and harder every time because all of his songs are so great, but the results should be interesting.  To make things “a tiny bit” easier, we haven’t included his new single “Let’s Don’t Call It a Night” in the poll.  As his first official release, it will always have a special spot in all our hearts regardless of where we might have ranked it.

So here it is.  Pick your top five favorites.  We’ll post the results at the conclusion of the poll.  As always, if there’s a specific version you like best, or other comments you’d like to make about your selections, feel free to post your thoughts below. Videos of the songs are posted below for your review.

  1. I need like 8 or 9 picks lol. With this material and other songs we haven’t heard, this first CD is bound to be one of my favorites. Singer, songwriter, musician, and good down to earth guy all in one package. Who could ask for more.

  2. Inconnu says:

…..One goal, among many, behind these polls is to see what fans would like as the next single to be released.
Humm… I voted for my top 5 but there is only one in there that I think would make a good single – so it’s a tricky question for me.

  3. CrazyCEJFan- Tracy says:

It is definately getting harder to choose favorite songs even if we do get to choose 5. I love everything Casey does, but the ballads get me in the heart every time! (Why I’m Feeling Blue kills me!!) Out of the 5 I picked, I think 3 of them would be great next singles “Why I’m Feeling Blue”. “I Lied” and “So Sweet”….but Casey probably has more up his sleeve we haven’t heard yet!He just keeps getting better and better…Amen!

After Casey debuted You’ll Never Walk Away and The Good Life, picking a top 5 got a lot more difficult for me. This time around I picked Drive, You’ll Never Walk Away, So Sweet, The Good Life and Done Made Up My Mind. I’ve kept Drive on my list from the beginning and the new intro only solidifies its position at the top of my list. I love that the music of this song paints a picture in my head as much as the lyrics do. And the new intro adds to that picture-painting awesomeness with its old west vibe. (Thanks, Marie, for putting the idea in my head!)
You’ll Never Walk Away made the list easily. The lyrics are some of the most poetic in all of Casey’s songs. I love how the girl in the story is taking every possible mode of transportation on her journey to see the world, but the narrator is asking her to “never WALK away”. Those lyrics really get to me on a personal level, as a person who fears being left behind emotionally more than being physically left behind. (Overshare?)
I also put The Good Life in my top five, because I see blue sky and sunshine in the opening bars of that song. And the song reminds me of the positive ways in which my perspective on life has changed in the last year and a half as a result of being a fan of Casey James.

I’m totally with you on “Drive.” I’ve loved it from day 1 for all the reasons you mentioned. Folks here have tagged it as a ‘summer song’ and I think that’s right. I hope it’s on his album and Sony promotes it big next spring! I can picture both genders driving down the road with this blaring full force on their radios. :-)

Show Me a Bridge is on my list – beautiful imagery, insightful and reminds me of myself. I love Undone because it’s about sometimes hard lessons we learn from experience, when to hold on and when to let go, So Sweet makes me feel happy and the band intro is great. Why I’m Feeling Blue is simply beautiful. Shine your Shoes acoustic is a must – clever lyrics and the guitar playing is outstanding. I also love the new guitar intro to Drive – makes me wonder if Casey would like to do a lot more of that style because he played around with it on the AI tour and some earlier music. I’d love to hear more.

I made up my own point system in order to pick because I like them all so much!!! Surely, they will be on albums in the future.

  6. Chris B. says:

It really is so hard to pick just five. I love most all of them. Each one has something special about it. I can’t imagine trying to choose songs for that CD!! It is going to be soo wonderful !! So can’t wait to get my hands on it!!

  7. genilu says:

Come Undone, Show Me a Bridge, So Sweet, Til My Guitar–, and Why I’m Feeling Blue are my favorites, although I really like some of the others. The ones I chose stir me emotionally in some way–that’s why I buy certain CDs. Love Casey’s music.

  8. Lulu Dee says:

The newly introduced songs are all great, except “Crazy Tonight” needs some tweaking. It starts out good with a story line, and I expected to hear about all the action and fights breaking out, etc., but it just fizzled out with a repetitive chorus. If “Crazy” could be rewritten with more descriptive lyrics, I think it has good radio potential.

  9. Katy says:

I just wanted to choose Why I’m Feeling Blue five times! Is that ok?

  10. Patti (caseyscrew205) says:

“Never Walk Away” is one of my new favs, love it, beautiful…:) My others are “Done Made Up My Mind”, “Undone”, “Show Me a Bridge”, “She’s Money”. ok, that’s hard….because I have sooooo many other favs too, there’s not one I don’t like!! :)

  11. Erin says:

I can’t choose!!! I love them all! I gave my vote to “The Good Life” but I love them all!!! But I love all the brand new ones he just played in Ohio, “Never Walk Away” and “Crazy Tonight” They are so great!! I’ve loved “So Sweet” since the first time I heard it… And of course “Bullet proof” Ugh.. Too much great music! They say too much of a good thing can be a bad thing, but I don’t think that qualifies with Casey’s music! :)

  12. Boudica says:

It isn’t that easy to pick 5. My favorite song remains Done Made Up My Mind, especially the version from The Mint. It is all sorts of awesome to hear Casey just wailing in the middle of that song.
Good Life moves into my top 5, I cant wait to hear the version with the full band. Other favorites are Drive, Bulletproof, I Lied, She’s Money, Show Me a Bridge, Why I am Feeling Blue.
There are a few choices that would work for the second single, Drive, Bulletproof, She’s Money.

  13. HelenKC says:

This is soo hard… but I’ve stuck with my early firm favourites Done Made Up My Mind and Drive firstly, especially love the new intro, then Undone, Why I’m Feeling Blue and You’ll Never Walk Away because they’re just so beautiful, I love the sentiment and these are the ones on my mind most right now – but I have so many more favourites, I love them all!

  14. Drew J says:

^^ Weird, but I got the same picks as Helen. I’m prone to liking upbeat stuff so I picked DMUMM, Drive, Shine Your Shoes, Undone. Why I’m feeling blue is pretty special, kinda relatable so it got mixed in this rockish Casey stuff I loved.

If I get a 6th choice, Show Me A Bridge will pop-up in my list. Oh shite, what about The Good Life? Argh, I know I will end up with this extensions.

  15. It’s just too difficult, and it depends on my mood which five are my favorites at the voting moment. I have to say, though, that I really love his new ones Never Walk Away and Good Life. My votes are now almost totally different than they were in July.

  16. MNCyn says:

This is just impossible! I voted again for favorites but I know if I listened to them all, it’d change again. Other than ‘Drive’ – which I think is so commercially promising for him – and ‘Why I’m Feeling Blue’ – which melts me every time – I really do like all of them!!
