What does Pantone’s colour of 2019 mean for office design?

Office design is big business. Combine this with the corporate colour giant that is Pantone and you could be embarking on a huge project this year. Let’s take a look at what is hot when it comes to your office’s space makeover.

Peachy

The colour gurus at Pantone have spoken and the colour of the year is Living Coral (Pantone 16-1546 for those who like numbers).

They clearly love it, saying: ‘Pantone 16-1546 Living Coral emits the desired, familiar and energising aspects of colour found in nature. In its glorious, yet unfortunately more elusive, display beneath the sea, this vivifying and effervescent colour mesmerises the eye and mind. Lying at the centre of our naturally vivid and chromatic ecosystem, Pantone Living Coral is evocative of how coral reefs provide shelter to a diverse kaleidoscope of colour.’

Impact

Office trends are just that – embraced one minute and excluded the next; however, this particular colour looks set to be big business for office fit out companies. Although based on a nature theme, it is distinctly not green and this colour really does have a lot to say for itself.

The wow factor

Office fit out companies – and there are plenty out there, such as Mobius at work specialise in office fit outs – are likely to embrace Living Coral because it has a whole host of possibilities. It can be incorporated into fabrics, floors and feature walls – and that’s just for starters!

Furniture

Furniture – such as reception area chairs, sofas or benches – looks distinctly on trend covered in coral fabric. Soft and warm, the shade is both contemporary and welcoming and is perfect for an office interior.

Flooring

The colour coral is perfect for flooring and can be incorporated as tiles. The colour can change depending on how the light falls upon it, so take into account where your office windows are located and how shadows and light will have an overall effect on your office space. With people moving about, the colour is synonymous with the movement of coral on the sea bed.
