Unmissable Sights of Dublin

Dublin is the perfect destination for a short city break. It’s warm, welcoming and heaped in culture and history. Here are some of the must-see activities and sights to include on your Dublin city break:

The marvellous views across Dublin Bay

One of Dublin’s main attractions is its stunning bay. From the shore, bay cruises offer the perfect activity to learn more about the city and its natural habitat. Ferries can be taken from many different points. You can stop off at the offshore islands and even take in some seal and dolphin spotting. If you choose a flexible ticket, you can spend the whole day hopping from one boat to another at different harbours. There are loads of spots to enjoy the scenery and enjoy some local food and drink.

The Castle

Founded way back in 1204, for 800 years Dublin Castle was the headquarters of British rule in Ireland. This large site contains free museums, a gothic chapel, architecture from the time of Vikings and some beautiful state apartments. Be sure to include a visit to the Dubh Linn Gardens and allow a good few hours to take in everything the castle grounds have to offer. After working up an appetite, enjoy a meal at a Restaurant Dublin like http://www.toscanarestaurant.ie/

Visit a quirky museum

The Little Museum of Dublin is well worth a visit as one of the city’s most popular cultural attractions. The location is equally as impressive, situated in a Georgian townhouse overlooking a green. The museum tells the tales of 20th century Dublin, including the work of Dublin-based designers, fashion and a whole room dedicated to Irish rockers U2. The museum holds regular events, lectures and talks and admission is via guided tour.

Stunning cinema

The Stella Cinema is a much-loved attraction containing a beautiful Art Deco cinema. The cinema shows both newly-released and older classics in an atmosphere of romantic lamplight, plush seating, sofas and even beds for the ultimate in movie-watching comfort. You can even have snacks personally delivered to your seats too!
